Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu has visited Oyo State following the tragic attack and abduction incident that occurred in Oriire Local Government Area of the State last Friday.
The IGP who was accompanied on the visit by the Commissioners of Police, Kwara State Command, and Schools Protection Squad, Ojo Adekimi and Abayomi Shogunle respectively, expressed deep concern over the incident and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives during the attack.
The Police Boss, during the visit, met with the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, alongside other security stakeholders, where he received operational briefings on ongoing rescue efforts and security deployments across the affected communities.
Disu disclosed that the Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with other security agencies, has intensified coordinated search-and-rescue operations, intelligence gathering and tactical deployments, assuring residents, parents and guardians of safe return of all abducted victims and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
He condemned the attack as cruel and unacceptable, reiterating that no effort would be spared in restoring normalcy to the affected communities.
The police boss further charge the residents to assist the security agencies by freely giving useful information if they have any, directing immediate deployment of additional tactical and intelligence assets to strengthen ongoing operations in the area and adjoining forests.
